Sixteen of us, families with teenagers and kids came to ski in Alleghe this February. A few of us had stayed in town before but it was fully booked, our regular host recommended La Maison and we weren’t disappointed.
The hotel is spotless, the rooms are spacious and well furnished and immaculate and the regular ski bus makes the five minute trip into Alleghe and the ski lift a doddle. The views from he hotel are stunning too.
To top it off, the owners; Alessandra and Eric are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They made our stay an absolute delight, and genuinely couldn’t do enough to help us.
I travel all over Europe with my work, and I can honestly say that this Hotel is number one on my list.

We loved Hotel-Garni La Maison where we stayed in late January 2008. As a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teenagers-14yr & 16yrs) we found the family room certainly big enough. The teenagers thought it was the best hotel room that we had stayed in Europe- they loved it! The view from our large balcony, a mountain peak directly behind us was nothing short of awesome. The room was delightfully alpine, very clean, warm & comfortable. The breakfast room was large and homely, the buffet breakfast ample with many choices (great coffee!!). Service was always with a smile, prompt, and accommodating. The family who run Hotel-Garni were extremely generous and attentive to all our needs, whether it be skiing/bus timetable information or even driving us to a restaurant in Alleghe when the Pizzeria next door was closed for one night. They also drove us all to our bus stop on our departure date. We were embarrased as to our lack of spoken Italian as English was very well spoken & understood by Signora.
Wonderful kindness & hospitality , more like a home than a hotel- we would highly recommend anyone to stay at Hotel-Garni La Maison.

My wife and I spent one night here. We wanted to stay in Cortina, but most hotels were closed since it was after the skiing season. We chose to stay here because they were one of the few hotels still open and it was not too far from Cortina.
And very glad that we stayed here as well. The hotel was in between 2 small mountain towns. The views on the drive in were stunning as well as the views from the hotel property itself. The room we stayed in was very large with a decent balcony, a breakfast table, couch and modern bathroom. The breakfast was just fine and served in a large dining room that I would imagine gets quite full during the skiing season.
This was a wonderful place to relax for an evening. A small town in the mountains is tough to beat. And this hotel had very much of a mountain lodge-type feel. I would definately stay here again.

We’re coming back for the third time this year for a long week-end skiing (like the other review). The rooms are magnificent and the welcome is warm. If you want a family-run hotel for the family this is probably for you – excellent value for money.
And if you’ve never been to the Dolomites you’ve a treat in store – they really are the most beautiful mountains and you won’t get ripped off, A drink on the slopes is about 1.5 euros.
Is there a down-side? Well you’ll have to go out and forage for your evening meal – but is that such a bad thing? (Hotel Garni means 1/2 board). And this is no ski-in ski-out – you’ll have to drive or get the ski-bus.
I’d like to say “Brits stay away – we want this place for ourselves!” but we’d like this hotel to be in business for next year and seeing as a lot of Europe is in economic straits at the moment . . .
One last thing when we realised that we couldn’t pay for the ski-lessons (4 days for the group) because they couldn’t take cards on the mountain (at that time anyhow) – we were told “leave the money at the hotel”! Lovely trusting people.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of Jan 2006. It is an ideal location if you want a 3-4 day ski break in the Ski-Civetta area and flying into either Treviso or Venice. It is a couple of hours drive from the airport and hiring a car is probably the best idea. The hotel is only a couple of years old and is very clean, well run and excellent value. We paid ¬40 each for a very large double-room & breakfast. It is located just outside of Masare, however, there is a ski-bus that leaves from just outside the hotel every 20 minutes, and is only 5 minutes to the ski-lift at Alleghe. You can hire ski equipment & deposit opposite the lift. Otherwise you can drive and park in the large free car-park next to the lift. Importantly, the hotel accepts bookings for short stays whereas, most hotels in the area will only accept bookings for one week stays. The hotel does not have a restaurant for evening meals but there is an excellent pizzeria next to it or, they provide a kitchen for guests to make their own meals. The owners are extremely helpful, bi-lingual and, I was able to make a booking easily by telephone.
